IIC - Invitation

Dear Grandmasters, Masters, Instructors and students:

Downey’s Taekwon-Do, the International Taekwon-Do Federation of Newfoundland and Labrador (ITFNL), and the Canadian Taekwon-Do Federation International (CTFI) would like to welcome your participation in our International Instructors Course (IIC), which will be held at Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN) in the Physical Education Building Gym, in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador (The oldest City in North America) on June 27,28, 29, 2014. The course will be conducted by the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF) Technical Committee: Grand Master Hector Marano, Grand Master Wim  Bos, and Grandmaster Ung Kim Lan.

The IIC is open to Black Belts only. My wife Cathy and I have been to several IIC’s conducted by the above Grandmasters and each time we attend an IIC we always learn something new and come away with great memories and renew and build new friendships with other ITF Taekwon-Do members from around the world. Topics to be covered include patterns, self-defense, sparring, theory of power, and the “Do” or philosophy of Taekwon-Do. This IIC will be the second time that our City has hosted an IIC. The first time was in March 2001 which was conducted by the legendary founder of Taekwon-Do, General Choi Hong Hi. At that time we had 9 countries attend the IIC. We look forward to once again welcoming our Taekwon-Do family from around the world.

For those of you that are not familiar with the City of St. John’s you can go to the following web sites for further information including pictures and videos of our lovely City and Province: City of St. John’s web site: and Newfoundland and Labrador, Department of Tourism, Culture and Recreation: For a map of the venue (MUN Physical Education Building:Gym) and surrounding area: For updates on the seminar visit

We look forward to welcoming you our beautiful city of St. John’s, Newfoundland, where the mountains meet the sea.

Master Scott Downey and Mrs. Cathy Downey
