An ITF delegation led by its President GM Pablo Trajtenberg accompanied by Master Ruben Marchini 8th Degree and 6th Degree Fernando Castro visited the island of Cuba from November 19th to 23rd.
During that time they visited the city of Camaguei where they attended to different gyms in order to observe how the activity is developed in the country. They were received with an exhibition by practitioners from different provinces who showed an excellent level.
This request to the ITF came from Instructor Eugenio Villafranca, who is an old practitioner of the ITF style in Cuba (he was separated from Instructor Reina who was aligned with GM Choi) for that reason he organized during 3 days a 12 hours seminar conducted by the ITF delegation, which was attended by approximately 30 Black Belts.
On the technical level we can say that although it needs some adjustment it is in the hands of passionate practitioners with a very good physical condition and that they gradually will have an excellent development, also they organized a banquet with traditional gifts as part of an excellent protocol. During the visit we had the opportunity to publicise the ITF including one interview for television.
We can say that a new country has been added to the ITF that even with a lack of financial resources that other countries have, it has a human potential and of quality worthy of notice....Read more
88th International Instructors Course - Oostende-Belgium November 22nd-24th, 2013
ITF-Belgium hosted the 88th International Instructors Course with the ITF Technical Committee, GM Hector Marano, GM Willem Jacob Bos and GM Kim Ung Lan.
It was the 3rd time an IIC was held in Belgium, the first time in Oostende, the biggest town at the belgian coast.
Registration started on Thursday November 21st. This was necessary, since there were 236 participants coming from 21 different countries. Amongst them 2 GrandMasters, GM Rolf Becking from Germany & GM Orello Ellis (UK), and 19 Masters.
On Friday and Saturday the course was organised in the "Royal Stables", a building with a history. It was built by a norvegian architect on demand of King Leopold II. Later it was the first basketbal arena used by the club of Oostende, playing in the First League.
Because of the big amount of participants the Technical Committee decided to have two "separate" IIC's, one for I° to III° degree, one for IV°degree and up. This was nice since this way all participants had the opportunity to see their whole program.
Friday evening 143 persons participated at the banquet.
On Saturday afternoon, after the classes of that day, there was the closing ceremony. Master Frank Vanberghen presented the GrandMasters paintings he had made especially for them. Also Master Christa Wintzer, 8th degree, was honoured. At the age of 70 she decided this was her last IIC.
Saturday evening at the top floor, the 9th floor, of hotel Ravelingen the organizers invited all GrandMasters and Masters for a nice dinner.
Sunday morning the venue was in Ravelingen, where most of the participants were staying. It was reserved for the Kids Development Program, conducted by Master Donato Nardizzi.
Meanwhile in the meeting rooms on the 4th floor there were a lot of gradings going on.
It was really an honour for the organizing committee to welcome all the participants to Oostende.

We are sad to announce the passing of one of the original Taekwon-Do pioneers, described by General Choi in the early years as his "right hand man". Grandmaster Nam Tae Hi is known as the father of Taekwon-Do in Vietnam as he lead the first group of Instructors to teach Taekwon-Do there. Grandmaster Nam was chosen by General Choi to lead the 29th Infantry "Fist" Division, where Taekwon-Do developed into maturity. He was also famous for breaking 13 roof tiles with his fist in a demonstration for the Korean President Syng Man Rhee in 1954, which lead to Taekwon-Do being officially adopted by the korean military forces, a key moment in the history of Taekwon-Do. GM Nam was a founding member of the ITF and an ITF VIII Dan by 1973. Without pioneers like Grandmaster Nam Taekwon-Do would not exist as it does today. We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge him for his contribution to the development of Taekwon-Do....Read more
